Karie J. Valentino was admitted to the Bars of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and Central District of Illinois in 1996. Her areas of practice include Medical Malpractice claims against hospitals, physicians and nurses. She also has experience in commercial and general litigation, product liability and premises liability. She has engaged in numerous arbitrations and mediations and successfully tried to verdict several medical malpractice cases on behalf of physicians, hospitals and nurses.

Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Ms. Valentino graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993 and earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 1996. Law school distinctions include membership on The John Marshall ABA Trial Team and The John Marshall Moot Court Team. Ms. Valentino has conducted multiple seminars with local hospitals for their staff, including nurses, for their continuing education requirements which address various medical/legal issues. The seminar topics include: “Your Documentation: Does It Tell the Story?”; “The Legal Capacity to Give Consent”; “Know the Facts About Guardianship, Healthcare Surrogate Act and Healthcare Power of Attorney”; “The Facts About Power of Attorney for Healthcare”; and “Medical Malpractice Lawsuits - Analysis and Prevention”, and conducted grand rounds lecturing on medical malpractice lawsuits-analysis and prevention. Ms. Valentino is a member of the Society of The Trial Lawyers, The Alumni Board of The John Marshall Law School, Board of Directors for the Women’s Bar Association and Recipient of Illinois Super Lawyers: Rising Star- 2009, 2010.

Ms. Valentino has a wide range of experience in general and commercial litigation matters. She has represented individuals and organizations in litigation involving claims of breach of contract, premises liability, product liability and defamation. Ms. Valentino also has experience dealing with various issues pertaining to probate matters. Ms. Valentino was in-house counsel for an insurance company, wherein she successfully defended motor vehicle claims for personal injury, property damage and subrogation liens.
